There was flooding in western OK and an old college friend of mine had to abandon her car, escaping through the window and swimming to safety. Scary shit!

I’m hoping they close the office Friday. If it comes I guess we’ll see how the new flood prevention on the bayou works (my car should be safe regardless, though I might move it to slightly higher ground).

Having lived in Houston, I would head for higher ground. Like the Chisos Mountains. Or at least Austin.

Gonna need a bigger boat

Yes, high ground is a relative term. This is about as high as the flooding got where I am at it’s worst in the big Memorial Day storm in 2015:
Many cars on the street were ruined, but my apartment’s lots mostly stayed dry, so just need to pic my spot carefully.

Parking garage.

Won’t things get damp in Austin as a result of this as well?

Predictions vary widely, from 4" to 11". We’ll just have to wait and see. Houston is projected to receive 35" of rain. That’s not inches, or fee, but a YARD of rain. It’s going to be very bad.

I know what a yard is and it’s a hell of a lot. How does your house hold up under torrents?

Should be okay. Got a new roof a few years ago.
